That is the tagline among Easter People: Christ is risen! Alleluia!
Holy Week and Easter were absolutely glorious! Starting out with shouts of "Hosanna! God help us!" on Palm Sunday, the Church became the crowd that followed Jesus throughout the Passover festivities in Jerusalem. On Maundy Thursday, we saw the command of Christ (to love one another, as God has loved us) come to life in the washing of the feet. We took part in the sacrament, the gift of life Christ gave us on the night he was betrayed. Then, on Good Friday, we joined the crowd in shouting "Crucify! Crucify!" For our inequities, his was crushed.
Holy Saturday revealed the tension that all at some point in their life feels: the in-between time between death and life.
Easter Morning, we came out of the dark and into the light of Christ as we rejoiced with brothers and sisters around the globe the good news: Jesus Christ rose from the grave! He conquered sin, death, and the devil so that WE may live!
We witnessed first-hand the real presence of Christ as we took part in Holy Communion and testified the new birth of Anya Jean Bruno at her baptism!
Dear Church, we have 50 Days of celebrating ahead of us! Christ is risen! Alleluia, indeed!
